YWCA Boulder County Hosts "Shecession" Discussion
YWCA Boulder County has joined YWCA USA in highlighting the economic impact of COVID-19 on women in the United States.YWCA USA, in conjunction with the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, recently released a new white paper entitled “America’s Recovery from the 2020 “Shecession”: Building a Female Future of Childcare and Work,” which details how challenges and systemic inequities are contributing to this year’s economic crisis’ and the disproportionate impact on women. The new report offers policymakers a blueprint for American economic recovery based on the intentional buildout of high quality, affordable, and accessible childcare together with a concrete future-of-work plan for the female workforce.On December 8, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, YWCA Boulder County will host a panel of exceptional women in legislative and advocacy roles navigating this challenging space and time for women. We will discuss what needs be focused on in the upcoming months to ensure we move these disturbing trends in the right direction.
