Anti-racism Training Courses for the Community
At YWCA Boulder County, we believe in educating individuals who are committed to learning more about the personal, interpersonal, institutional and structural systems of racism, and taking informed action to transform our communities.
Our previous courses included:
How to be Anti-racist: This introductory course focused on understanding individual and interpersonal racism to stimulate personal reflection and discovery as well as understanding institutional and structural racism and better recognize how systems and structures perpetuate racism.
Taking Action for Racial Justice: This course supported individuals who are ready to work for racial justice by gaining a greater understanding of their role as accomplices in creating an anti-racist community. The goal was to identify tangible actions toward changing systems and structures that continue to perpetuate racism.
Parent Workshop “How to Talk to Your Kids About Racism”
YWCA Boulder County offers a parent workshop to complement our Reading to End Racism Reading Days in local elementary schools. The workshop aims to give parents the skills and tools they need to answer questions their children might ask about race, racism, discrimination and bullying after RER visits their school, and how they can continue the conversation at home in the future. Topics include:
How do we have meaningful conversations about race and racism?
How do we raise our children to treat others fairly when they see racial injustice?
What are the pros and cons of talking openly about race and racial injustice with our children?
What is the price of silence?
How to TAKE ACTION ↘
