2025 Gala Awardees Honored

We are thrilled to honor two exceptional individuals whose dedication and passion have truly made a difference in our community: Deidre Farrell with the Janet Beardsley Award of Excellence and Marta Loachamin with the Mark Bouzek Community Impact Maker Award.

Please join us to celebrate their commitment to empowering women and eliminating racism at our Gala on March 1, 2025.

Deidre is a financial advisor with Thrivent Financial and has been since 2005. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin and her MBA from the University of Connecticut.

Over the years, Deidre has been active in the community with local non-profits YWCA Boulder County, the Boulder Rotary Club, TGTHR, Habitat for Humanity and There With Care.

Deidre served on YWCA Boulder County’s Board for six years, from 2018 to 2024, contributing her expertise to the finance and governance committees. She also held key leadership roles as vice president and chairwoman of the board. Her financial skills were crucial in guiding the YWCA through the challenges of the pandemic and the difficult period that followed, when federal funding was significantly reduced.

In her free time, Deidre enjoys swimming, traveling, reading, and playing pickleball with her husband. She also cherishes spending time with their two young adult daughters.

Boulder County Commissioner Marta Loachamin is a long-time Longmont resident dedicated to social, economic, and housing justice. She works to create opportunities for families across Boulder County and the Front Range.

Marta represents key political organizations, including the Consortium of Cities, Mobility and Access for All, Metro Area County Commissioners, and Workforce Boulder County. Appointed by Governor Jared Polis, she also serves on the Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC).

Before joining the Board of County Commissioners, Marta led a Community Foundation Boulder County initiative highlighting the role of Cultural Brokers in inclusive decision-making. She also partnered with the City of Longmont to launch the Resiliency for All Project, later adopted statewide by Colorado’s Division of Local Affairs to aid underserved communities in disaster recovery.

A previous educator and housing advocate, she helped hundreds of first-time homebuyers achieve homeownership, teaching economic stability for families.

Marta’s leadership includes serving as a national trainer for the Hispanic Wealth Project and as President of the Metro Denver Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. She has been an instructor for the Colorado Housing Finance Authority homebuyer class and served on various community boards, including Longmont United Hospital/Centura Health and High Plains Bank.

We’d be delighted to have you join us at our Gala as we honor Deidre Farrell with our Janet Beardsley Award of Excellence and Marta Loachamin with our newly named "Mark Bouzek" Community Impact Maker Award.

Our Gala is an opportunity for our community to come together in celebration of those committed to empowering women, eliminating racism, and supporting YWCA Boulder County’s vital programs. Learn more about our Gala here.
