YWCA Boulder County Announces Women's Empowerment Day at the Colorado State Capitol Building

Event Will Take Place on April 16, 2024

BOULDER, CO – April 2, 2024 – YWCA Boulder County announced today it will be hosting Women's Empowerment Day at the Colorado State Capitol Building in Denver from 8:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. The organization is inviting high school and college students, members of partnering organizations in the Women’s Collaborative of Boulder County, and the public to tour the Capitol and take action on health, economics, safety, and racial justice issues affecting women and communities of color. YWCA Boulder County will be providing transportation to the event from its offices in downtown Boulder.

“Touring the Capitol, and letting our lawmakers know about the issues affecting racial and gender justice for women and girls, is fundamental in creating a fairer, more inclusive society,” said Debbie Pope, CEO, YWCA Boulder County. “We’re inviting everyone who shares our passion for empowering women and eliminating racism to join us,” she added.

Attendees will enjoy a breakfast reception with legislators, view bills in action in the House and Senate chambers, have individual conversations with elected legislators about priority bills to support racial and gender equity, and a tour of the Capitol. YWCA Boulder County will be holding virtual training sessions the week before the event for all registrants.
